No Smoking Around the Slot Machines

With state after state putting more restrictions on smokers, it was just a matter of time before the slot machines and those who like to smoke around them were going to be affected. Nevada just passed a smoking ban at the slot machines where they are played in convenience stores, grocery stores, etc. – but it does not affect the slot machine casino floors yet. Some say it is just a matter of time before it is illegal to smoke in the slot machine and gambling casinos as well.

In New Jersey, the city council is deciding on whether or not to ban smoking on the casino floors, something many slot machine players are up in arms about. They say that it is like water to a fish, when you are playing the slot machines you want to be able to smoke. They say they don’t want to have to go outside and smoke a cigarette after they have put in their time on a slot machine.

With Nevada falling under the knife, many think it is just a matter of time before smoking won’t be allowed anywhere – not even in your own home. They say that it is entirely up to non smokers to not sit by a smoker if they want to play the slot machines, and that it is their right to smoke if they want to. However, proponents say that is not true, that even if they sit at a slot machine that is not next to a smoker – they are still breathing in the smoke from around the casino.

Workers at the slot machine and gambling casinos had mixed reviews about the laws, they say that although they like the idea of not having to breathe in smoke all the time, they know that it would end up costing the casino money. They say that if it becomes illegal to smoke by the slot machines or the tables in a casino that they will end up having to lay people off because of the loss in revenue. Experts say this is not the case, and that all areas that have welcomed the smoking ban have not had a decrease in income.
