Chester Awaiting Slot Machines

The new Harrah’s Chester Casino and its forthcoming slot machines will be music to the town of Chester’s ears. The town has fallen on hard times since most of the industry has left them, but now that the slot machines are coming – they are quite literally saved. The slot machine revenue will boost the town’s budget – especially since it will be roughly 1/4th of the town’s revenue.

The slot machine casino is bringing jobs as well as revenue, and is boosting local businesses incomes as well. The residents of Chester are keeping a close eye on the slot machine casino as it has promised to hire locals and minorities. The slot machine casino has already held five job fairs and given $500,000 in a grant to the Chester Workforce Development Center.

Harrah’s is the third casino to open its slot machines since the slot machine law was passed – but it is the first to be a stand alone casino. The other casinos brought slot machines to already existing racetracks. This new building brought in not only slot machines, but also new construction jobs, which were sorely needed. The casino itself is estimated to bring in roughly $248 per slot machine – for a total estimate of somewhere around $670,000.
