Bedington Concerned About Slot Machines

With West Virginia talking about bringing in table games to supplement their slot machines, many in WV are concerned about what effect this will have on the state. Berkeley County residents are already worried about all of the slot machines and gambling in their neck of the woods, and held a town meeting last week to discuss it.

Delegate John Overington met with the townspeople and spoke to them about their concerns regarding slot machines and table games in their town. They say that the amount of slot machines and gambling has already gotten out of control, and they think that adding table games would just make it worse. They say that new slot machines pop up all the time, and they want to know why they were being inundated with so many of the machines.

They wanted to know if they would have a say in whether or not table games could come to Jefferson County, as they felt that even though it was not where they lived, they were affected by it and the number of slot machines that were nearby already. One of the residents complained that slot machines were already popping up in their community, something they did not want.

They complained that they had seven slot machine parlors all within two miles of each other; they felt that was more than excessive. They wanted to know why so many slot machines were needed, and where the money was going from them.
