Bangor Slot Machines Bring in Millions
Hollywood Slots in Bangor, Maine, has already brought in $21 million
for the state in its first 14 months of legalized slot machine
gambling. The slot machine casino opened in November of 2005, and the
above amount in slot machine revenue is from that date until December
2006.
The slot machine casino has also seen a jackpot of $50,000 to one
lucky winner. The state gets their fair share of the slot machine
revenue, as does the town of Bangor. But many other smaller groups are
benefiting from the slot machine revenue as well. Groups such as the
state’s colleges, prescription drug relief, etc., are all getting a
portion of the slot machine revenue that comes in every month from the
casino.
The current location of the casino will eventually be replaced by a
much larger and nicer casino to house their slot machines. The new
casino will hold up to 1,500 slot machines, as well as other
entertainment aspects. They currently have about 475 slot machines in
their temporary facility. They expect the new slot machine casino to
be completed sometime in the middle of next year.
The current slot machines are paying out roughly 93.3%, which is
higher than most state regulations require. The owners of the company
say that the slot machine revenue is right about where they expected
it to be.
