Slot Machines Help Make Arizona #12
According to the Casino City’s North American Gaming Almanac, Arizona
is number twelve in slot machine and gambling revenue. The state has
racetracks, Indian casinos, lottery lines, charitable raffles, and of
course slots machines, so it is no wonder that they would be so high
on the list. Their slot machine and other gamblers left $1.9 billion
in the state at various gaming venues, which gave them the boost over
many other states.
The bigger the Indian casinos get the more slot machine revenue grows
and racing revenue drops as people chose to go to the casinos instead
of the tracks. Gaming revenue was up 13%, Indian slot machine casino
revenue was up 14%, and the tracks and sports gambling were down 0.1%.
Nevada was number one, with California and New Jersey coming in next.
Arizona might have some problems holding onto their title however, for
although their slot machine revenue is growing, it is not growing as
fast as it did in previous years.
Because the state limits the number of slot machines that the tribes
can own, tribal gaming will start to slow and then other types of
gaming may see an increase in their revenues. The Navajo Nation can
build four slot machine casinos in Arizona, and they are considering
one in the northeastern part of Arizona. Other tribes near Phoenix
have already added all the slot machines they can, so they are working
on upgrading their other amenities.
