Terrorist Run Slot Machines?
Federal officials have tried just about everything to get people to
stop gambling and playing the slot machines online. They are bound and
determined to stop the proliferation of online gaming, so it is no
wonder that their latest attempt at linking online slot machines to
terrorism has gotten a few people laughing at their expenses.
The FBI and other government officials are saying that the online
gaming industry is just a way to launder money for terrorist groups.
They even have top prosecutor David Litterick on the case – a man
known for prosecuting terrorists. This is a man who has literally put
his life on the line to bring terrorists to justice, and now he is
prosecuting online gamblers and slot machine players.
All of the US based casinos are now subjected to background checks and
strict government regulations in accordance with the Patriot Act. They
must show that they have money laundering programs in place to ensure
the safety of their transactions. They are concerned because online
slot machines and casinos do not have to abide by the same rules.
With the recent slate of subpoenas that the US government has been
handing out to those involved with the online casinos, it is no wonder
that they have people running from the US. The federal government has
taken to using scare tactics to get people to stop accepting US monies
and it is working.
What they don’t understand is that they are not going to stop
gambling, or online slot machines. Experts agree that instead of
closing it all down, you will end up with a kind of Prohibition –
where everyone still does it but they do it in their basement. They
also lose the ability to do any sort of regulating of the industry,
because they won’t be able to find it. Plus, since there is no shred
of evidence linking terrorists to online gaming they will actually be
opening it up for them. So by saying that it is there they are in fact
creating the one thing they say they are trying to stop.
