Solihull Slot Machines Cause Concern
With the new slot machine casino licenses having been issued, much of
Britain is discussing who got what. Solihull was fortunate enough to
have received one of the slot machine casino licenses, as was
Wolverhampton.
Solihull will be building a casino with 150 slot machines and top
prizes of £4,000. Wolverhampton will have a smaller casino with 80
slot machines. However, not everyone is happy about the licensing.
Many in the West Midlands are not happy about the slot machines coming
in, and the MPs in both areas opposed the licenses saying that they
would only end up damaging the families. Lorely Burt said that only
“desperate and vulnerable people” would patronize the slot machine
casino.
She said that a year ago the Casino Advisory Panel rejected their
ideas of putting a larger slot machine casino at the NEC, and now that
they are approving one there it won’t have the things they needed at
the first. Burt says that they will be bringing in the slot machines
on a smaller scale, which means they will have the problems associated
with gambling addiction, but not the funds necessary to do something
about it.
