Slot Machines Bring in Revenue
Pennsylvania’s slot machines have been doing extremely well, bringing
in more than a billion dollars in just their first 89 days of being
open for business. In fact, that figure is the amount made since the
first one opened, since not all of them are open yet. One didn’t open
until December and the other one didn’t open until January. There are
still another eleven slot machine parlors yet to open.
Now of course that number is not $1 billion to the state - that is $1
billion wagered, which makes almost $55 million to the state – I
wonder what that breaks down to for an hourly wage? That is roughly
$15,000 per hour – not bad for just their beginning numbers. You see,
as more and more slot machines come into the state, more and more will
be paid out to the state making that hourly wage go significantly up.
Plus you cannot forget the millions, $213.3 to be exact, that the
state gets in licensing fees, and various charges on equipment, etc.
Plus, if anyone had any doubts that Pennsylvanians would be interested
in seeing what they had in their own backyard, as well as people from
neighboring states, all you have to do is look at the slot machine
revenue for Atlantic City and Delaware to see that they are hurting
financially. Both states reported drops in their slot machine revenue
for January.
