Manchester Wins Slot Machine Supercasino

The surprise Manchester felt at winning the first supercasino in Britain was eclipsed by the surprise the rest of the world felt as well. Many thought that Blackpool or Millennium Dome would be the winners of the casino, especially since Manchester was consistently at the bottom of the list for possibilities.

The Casino Advisory Panel recommended Manchester as they felt that the city desperately needed the income, and they felt that they did the best job of assuaging their residents’ concerns over having it there. The casino will be located almost 200 miles from the heart of London, but has not been officially approved yet.

British lawmakers and Culture Secretary Tessa Jowell have to make the final decision, and they use the Panel’s recommendation to make that call. There is no reason to believe that they would choose another location over this one, but there is a chance they could.

The casino will be the country’s largest one, with 1,250 slot machines and at least 54,000 sq ft of gaming space, etc. This casino is cut down from the original idea that there would be several of them, instead there will be one and then several smaller one. Originally there were talks of almost 40 casinos brought in, and instead they will have one supercasino and several smaller casinos. The smaller ones will have 150 slot machines and unlimited table games. The supercasino will be allowed an unlimited number of table games as well.

They expect the casino to bring in much needed slot machine revenue for the area, as well as close to 3,000 jobs.
