Illegal Slot Machine Imports

Two men have been charged with illegally bringing in slot machines to the country. The FBI said that the machines were misrepresented as amusement games, which they were not. They said they were designed for gambling, and therefore were illegal slot machines.

William Holmes, a “forensic gambling consultant” was called to testify in the trial, and he said he was contacted by the police after they had boarded the Niobe Corinthian casino ship and seized 100 slot machines. The two men, Fermin Alfonso Reyes and George Kezas, deny the charges. The police say that they were attempting to take the slot machines to Bermuda by using the cruise ship.

Police raided the ship while it was docked at Marginal Wharf, St. Davis – and police arrested Reyes that same day. Kezas was arrested two days later after his home was searched. Holmes testified that they were gambling machines, and not amusement machines. They could be played using cards loaded with cash by a cashier, and that they were not games of skill – they were games of chance, which makes them slot machines.
