Bryant Found Guilty of Slot Machines

Warren County is a small town of 1,300 people. Yet, within that small town, there have been several problems with village officials who have crossed the line into criminal territory. The latest involves illegal slot machine gambling.

Vice Mayor York Bryant was found guilty last week of operating a gambling house, which is a fifth-degree felony. Bryant was operating and owning three slot machines and one video draw poker game for profit at his place of business. Bryant owns Papa’s Restaurant in Salem Township. A Warren County jury found the Vice Mayor, 60, guilty of all charges against him.

Plus, he gets to keep his job – which could be part of the reason why the village council is having problems – especially if you keep convicted criminals on staff. He gets to keep his job until he is sentenced, then they will remove him from office, and give someone else his job. Unless of course, he chooses to resign.

But it isn’t like this is the first time. Bryant had some problems back in 1989 when he was found guilty of a similar charge. You think a man his age would know better. He could be headed for up to a year in prison, but they won’t know until he is sentenced in a month.
