Slot Machines Boon to Town

Many think that Harrah’s Chester Casino could not have come to a better part of the world. Chester is undoubtedly one of Delaware County’s poorest areas, badly in need of the business, jobs, and slot machine revenue that the casino will bring in. Harrah’s literally came in and saved the area from complete eventual annihilation.

Many want to know what effect the new casino will have on the slot machine revenue of Delaware – and experts are split. Harrah’s themselves believes that there are enough players that both areas will still get a hefty piece of the slot machine revenue pie, others are not so sure. Some think that they will affect the amount of revenue that Delaware’s slot machines are bringing in – but they forget that Delaware has one thing that Chester does not – electronic table games.

The new casino is not just about the number of slot machines that it has, although it does have 200 more than Delaware Park. The building is brand new, and it offers patrons more than just a pull on the one armed bandit, it gives bistros, and restaurants, pubs, you name it. All of the slot machines are ticket-in, ticket-outs – with no falling coins; a move some think could be a mistake as the traditional slot player likes the concept. However, in the long run, it doesn’t seem to be the thing that would injure them, as they have way too much going for them.

One thing Delaware does have that Harrah’s doesn’t is the free drinks for playing the slot machines. Pennsylvania recently ruled that the casinos could offer free drinks, but Harrah’s has chosen not to.
