Slot Machine Winnings Not Disclosed

The Gaming Control Board has their hands full with more than just figuring out whom to give slot machine licenses to, they also now have to worry about those that work for them as well. It looks as though former Pennsylvania State Rep. Mark McNaughton actually won thousands of dollars at the slot machine casinos but did not disclose them on his ethics form.

What is particularly interesting about the concept is that McNaughton has long been an opponent of bringing slot machines into the state. He also took several trips to Atlantic City with a lobbyist that represents Boyd Gaming group, one of the companies that was vying for a slot machine license. Even though he did not report the slot machine income on his Gaming Board documents, he did report it on his income tax.

Turns out that McNaughton won around $15,500 over the past two years’ tax returns in slot machine and gambling income, and although he was required by law to report the money on his ethics forms he did not. It is not illegal to gamble the slot machines or the tables, but the fact that he did not report them could affect whether or not he gets the position on the gaming board.
