Oklahoma’s Illegal Slot Machines

Wagoner County in Eastern Oklahoma is cracking down on the illegal slot machines in their area. They have informed several local businesses that if they don’t remove their illegal slot machines that they will seize the games.  All of the slot machines will be removed, and each of the businesses that currently own the illegal slot machines has been notified of such.

There is a state statute that defines slot machines as any machine that “cashes out” and thus they are illegal. The FBI recently told officials in Wagoner County that these slot machines were illegal and that they needed to crack down on them. All of the slot machines must be gone by December 31st of this year. The owners of the slot machines say that they will comply, but there are a lot of unhappy owners.

The owners of the slot machines say that no one is being harmed by them owning the machines, and that ultimately it ends up only being a couple of hundred dollars a week in revenue for the establishments that run them. They say that their slot machine revenue is so paltry they don’t understand why they are being penalized. They say their slot machines are nothing compared to the casinos, but the Sheriff says that if anyone in his county wants to play the slot machines they have to go to the casinos.
