Locals Playing the Slot Machines

When most people think of Las Vegas they think of the Strip, however, North Las Vegas has many of the same amenities. The most important part however, is the fact that they have slot machines – and they generate a lot of money. The slot machine casinos along the Strip saw a decrease in their revenues for the second straight month – according to the Gaming Control Board. Yet, North Las Vegas’ slot machines are doing even better than ever.

Nevada’s slot machine and gambling casinos won $1.062 billion in October, which is 0.37 better than they did same time last year. However, the October slot machine and gaming wins totaled over $1 billion for the seventh time in ten months. There were double digit increases in slot machine and gambling revenues in North Las Vegas – along Boulder Highway, Henderson, and some other areas.

Slot machines made up much of the shortfall for the casinos – up 7.2 percent from same time last year. Experts say that the Strip is usually what gives the state its income – however, the locals are the ones that have been saving the market. Clark County’s slot machine casinos were up 18.2%; Boulder Strip was up 12.4%, Mesquite was up 9.7%, although Downtown Las Vegas’s slot machine casinos were down 1.7%.
