Liberty Bell Slot Machines

Reno’s Liberty Bell Saloon has a long history with slot machines. Not only is it located in the place where the first slot machine was created, but it is located in an area that is often overlooked when one looks at the slot machine Mecca known as Las Vegas. Up until now Reno was on the map – as far as slot machines go – but only as a secondary player. Now, Reno is on the map for a totally different reason.

When the Liberty Bell decided to close their doors, a piece of slot machine history was closing as well. They have shut down the saloon and the slot machines, but are offering them to a group of fans who want to buy a piece of slot machine history. Over 600 vintage slot machines were auctioned off, some older than most of the people who come to Las Vegas to gamble.

The very first slot machine was created by a man named Charles Fey. It was his grandsons who owned and ran the Liberty Bell. The first slot machine was created in the late 1890’s, and they haven’t stopped coming up with ways to improve them since. The first slot machine was called the Liberty Bell, due to the bell symbols on the reels – and it was a three reel system.

Even Fey could not have imagined the hold that slot machines would turn out to have on our world. As for the Liberty Bell – it will be knocked down and turned into a convention center.
