Know Your Slots Before You Play Them
There may not be any skill involved in determining the outcome of a
slot machine, but that should not stop you from being a well informed
slot machine player. Some argue that it doesn’t matter which slot
machine you play, you are going to lose anyway – well that is true and
it isn’t. Some slots might work out better for you than others
depending on what kind of player you are.
Sometimes people think that if they play the cheaper slot machines,
like the penny or nickel slots, that they will lose less money, or at
least be able to play longer. However, they are not getting a bargain
for their money. The average hold on a one cent machine is usually
10.55%, and the average hold on a nickel slot machine is 10.67%. That
means every time you put in a thousand or so dollars, even if you are
winning, you are paying the casino roughly $100 or so. You may have
won the jackpot, but on average you will still have ended up losing
money.
It will seem like you are winning at the slot machine, but actually
you really aren’t. The main thing to remember when you are playing the
slot machines is that you have to keep in mind how much the house
advantage is and that every slot machine is there to make money for
the casino not for you.
