Slot Machines Fail Test

Mardi Gras Racetrack and Gaming Center was hoping to have their slot machines open and running this week, but it looks like they may have to wait. The slot machine casino did not pass their “facility testing” and are not allowed to open. The testing was performed by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR), and without passing their test – they cannot start running their slot machines.

The Broward slot machine casino was hoping to be able to open this week, but after going through a battery of tests they received a failing grade. The tests take an entire day with the state going through every inch of the slot machine casino making sure that everything is the way it should be, and every employee knows what they are doing. The DBPR said that since the new slot machine testing was new to all of the pari-mutuels that it was not considered a big deal to fail the first time around.

It turns out that the Mardi Gras Casino is not the first slot machine casino to fail the testing. Gulfstream failed their first testing as well, then passed the second time around and were able to have their slot machines up and running shortly thereafter. With Class III slot machines operating for the first time in Florida, there are bound to be a few snafus and each casino will have to learn them for themselves.
