Smoke No More

Walk into pretty much any casino and you are bound to be hit in the face with the smell and the clouds of smoke.  Gambling and smoking go hand in hand; one pull of the slot machine, one pull of the cigarette.  But more and more slot machine players are asking for some breathing room. One casino is listening – the Saddle West Hotel and Casino announced that part of their renovation is going to include a non-smoking section of the game floor.

The place is under new management and they have decided that the non-smokers might be getting driven away with the new healthy era. They have moved the sports betting area out of the back, and moved in slot machines.   "This room has a physical separation from the rest of the casino that afforded us the opportunity to look at Pahrump's first non-smoking casino area," Saddle West Operations Director, Saddle West Operations Director said. “The national average is 75 to 80 percent of the population is non-smoking. We just want to be able to take care of both customers."

When you walk through the casinos in Atlantic City, many of them have separate areas for non-smokers as well, but many of them are on the main floor. Customers may not be sitting next to a smoker, but they are definitely breathing it in. Air quality is something all of the casinos deal with. They don’t want to offend the smokers or the non-smokers. The new room at saddle west will be non-smoking as well as having the latest slot machines with the company is bringing in 100 new slots. They think blackjack will be next.
