Slovak Betting Shops Bought

In the Czech, the gambling industry is growing at a large pace – however, the odds betting portion of that gambling has slowed down. The leading odds betting chain Tipsport has been looking to expand – and has now purchased 320 Slovak betting shops. This comes just a few months after the company purchased Poland’s MegaType.  The company has been growing its company and acquisitions steadily, if not necessarily quickly. They are now offering betting on the Slovak market, but under a different name – Tipsport SK. This comes from the acquisition of the betting shops, as they are going to be bringing in another company with that group of shops called Doxx-SK chain. By integrating the new company into the existing one, the name change will reflect that new union.

Tipsport is competing with two other major competitors in the market – Fortuna and Terno, which are ranked 2nd and 3rd respectively in the odds betting market. They are also planning on bringing their newly acquired Polish subsidiary to the forefront, and making it a real contender within the next three years. Tipsport controls roughly half of the odds betting market in the Czech now, and are looking to increase that amount.

Slot machines still bring in the majority of the revenue, but Tipsport is looking to change that. The Czech is hoping to change it as well, as they are trying to keep a ban on online betting, but unfortunately have not been able to get rid of those companies that found their footing by getting licensed in the EU, so they are still working on eliminating them – but it will be a hard road.
