Roddey Group Removes Name
New Century
Entertainment has announced that they plan to give up their state
license to distribute slot machines. They are currently only one of
sixteen other companies that have received licenses to distribute slot
machines in the state of Pennsylvania. The company, which includes
former Allegheny County Chief Executive Jim Roddey, was poised to
become one of the larger distributors under a new Pennsylvania Law.
Pennsylvanians
passed a law that states that the purchase of a slot machine within
the state had to go through a middleman, or a distributor that had
been licensed through the state to buy and sell slot machines on
behalf of the state. The law was passed to try and thwart local
corruption with the slot machine dealings.
The attorney for
the company stated that New Century Entertainment had been running
into roadblocks due to politics within the state and by the businesses
that make the slot machines. The attorney did not, however, name names
when it came to which political avenues or slot machine distributors
had been holding the company back. With such a large minority
following within the company, it is a loss to see the company pull
back. Back to August
