Ohioans Voting on Slots

With the upcoming election in November, Ohioans are very likely going to be looking toward voting on an issue as to whether or not they want slot machines in their state. If approved, the state would be placing slot machines at the state’s seven racetracks. This would, of course, bring in quit a bit of money for the “racinos” as they are called, as well as bringing in a lot of money for the state of Ohio.

This makes supporters of bringing in slot machines very happy. They think that the voters will make the right choice and vote in the slots. This will be more money for the state, more money for social programs, more money for education, etc. They are confident that the initiative will pass.

However, opponents say that by bringing in the slot machines into the racetracks, that they are opening doors for all kinds of trouble. That the slot machine initiative only opens the door for more gambling, and for casinos to now move into their state. It also ends up being a plight on the poor, as they are notorious for gambling as a “quick-fix” for their money problems. They say the amount of money brought in by the slot machines just isn’t enough to balance the damage it will do to Ohio.
