Grand Casino Biloxi Opening

After waiting almost a year after the destruction of Hurricane Katrina, many areas affected by the catastrophe have not been able to be open. The casinos were hit very hard, and have lost quite a bit of revenue in the process, which of course means the state has lost revenue as well. The Grand Casino Biloxi is planning on opening their doors on August 17th, almost a year after the hurricane destroyed them. They are simply waiting on a few more approvals, and then they are good to go.

The new land-based casino is going to be great for the economy, and also for the locals – there will be more than 800 slot machines to be played, game tables, a hotel, grand buffet, spa, restaurants, and of course – a Starbucks. They have also gone back to try and hire back the original employees, which will help people get back on their feet as well. They will be hiring back 1,500 employees, of which 95% previously worked for one of the casinos that have been injured by the storm.

The new casino will also have a new Senior Vice President and General Manager, Karen Sock. Karen was the Assistant General Manager of Grand casino Gulfport.
