The Isle of Capri Casino and Hotel is closed for business. This was never more apparent than now as all of the Caribbean themed decorations have finally come down in anticipation of a computer upgrade. The new slot machine and table casino will be called Diamond Jacks Casino and Hotel. The new owners, Legends Gaming LLC have a $240 million deal, and have closed their doors temporarily while they await the new computer.

The purchase is not fully closed, but does include all of the old property in Vicksburg, without the human resources and training center. In August of 1993, the Isle of Capri was the first Slot Machine Casino to open in the area, on a boat. Now, they have permanent structures, including a casino that floats inside a permanent building. This is the only location of the Isle that was sold, its other locations will continue as before. The new owners will be renovating the space, as well as adding in 809 slot machines and 20 table games.

The slot machines and tables have brought in much needed income into the state, with more than $200 million for their owners, $7 million in city taxes, $3 million in county taxes, $16 million in state taxes, and of course school taxes of $3 million. The slot machines are not the only thing getting redone; the restaurant is getting a facelift as well.
