Harrah's Entertainment, Inc. has announced that Charles L. Atwood has been appointed vice chairman of the board of directors. Mr. Atwood has been Harrah’s Chief Financial Officer for the last five years, and he will be replaced by Jonathan S. Halkyard. Mr. Halkyard will add the title of CFO to his other titles of senior vice president and treasurer.

Mr. Halkyard will take over all of the company’s financial areas, as well as directing the company’s accounting and business functions. Mr. Atwood will now handle all of the company’s development, design and construction efforts. He will also handle risk management and security, investigations, etc.

Mr. Atwood has been with the company since 1979, and has been CFO since 2001. Mr. Halkyard has been with the company since 1999 when he accepted the position of Director of Finance at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe.
