Texas Poker

Texans may get gambling even though many think that it is an unnecessary plight on the world. There are several bars offering poker games, and even though gambling is illegal, they meet the proper criteria for keeping it legal, and thus are able to offer it. However, the legislature thinks that since gambling is going on anyway, they might want to regulate the games and get their piece of the pie.

There is a bill currently sitting in the House that would regulate poker rooms so that people could play for cash and the state would get a portion of it. The money that the state would get would be earmarked for affordable housing programs, something that is desperately needed in the Lone Star state. With the police saying that the games are showing up across the state, it only makes sense to get a share of the proceeds.

Of course, the religious and conservative groups are fighting the bill, they do not want to see poker games legalized, and they certainly do not want to expand gambling. They believe that if they were to allow gambling and poker games to be legalized, that they would be doing a major injustice to the state. They say that no matter how much money is brought in from the games, it will not be enough to justify the problems that would come with them.

What many do agree on is that if poker games are legalized, it is most likely only a matter of time before slot machines would be legalized as well. There are those that like the idea of the poker games but not the slot machines, and if that is the case they may vote against the poker games just to keep the slot machines out of the state.
