McGregor Says Justices Biased

The Alabama Supreme Court has come under fire by Milton McGregor who says that at least four of the justices were biased against his case and should have recused themselves from it. He is appealing to the US Supreme Court as he says he did not get a fair trial the first time around.

McGregor owns electronic sweepstakes games, and many in the state say that they are the same as slot machines and therefore are illegal in the state of Alabama. McGregor maintains that they are not the same and that they are completely different entities. The Alabama Supreme Court disagreed with McGregor and ruled that they were slot machines and thereby illegal.

McGregor says that several of the justices had campaigned against slot machines in the November election and therefore were prejudiced against his case. He says that any time a case is heard in front of justices that are biased the whole legal system is compromised.

In December, the justices heard the case and unanimously ruled that the sweepstakes games were slot machines, and told him that he had to remove them from his dog track. Jefferson County District Attorney David Barder was happy about the ruling, as he had maintained that the machines were slot machines and should have been removed a long time ago.
