Why Some Gamblers Just Lose

Some gamblers are doomed to repeat their losses over and over again because they refuse to listen to reason, or learn from their mistakes. Every body knows someone who every time they go to the casino they leave with less money than they came in with, but yet they still keep going. One of their biggest problems is that they don’t know when to stop going, but the bigger problem is not knowing what not to play.

Sometimes it is simply a matter of changing the games that you play – and one of those will be slot machines. Many go and stick their money in the slot machine hoping for that ever elusive jackpot. However, with house edges of 3 to 17%, you are doomed to keep leaving your money at the casino. You can lose three times as much as someone playing a table game like Baccarat.

However, that is not to say that the table games are a better deal, for there are some that will suck your money up almost as fast as the slot machines will. One game, Sic Bo, has a house edge of 40% - which means every hour you are losing almost as much as if you had played the slot machines. Some games are not as bad, like Three Card Poker or Let it Ride, but they can take a nice chunk of your money as well with house edges just a little better.

Your best bet is to try games such as blackjack and craps, but you have to play them smartly. Take your time learning the games, practice a lot, then go to the casino after having read all you can on winning strategies. But the most important thing to remember, when you have lost all that you can afford to lose, walk away; because no matter how good a game is, you will lose the shirt off your back if you play too long.
