Casino Auditor Enjoys Job

For some people they get their excitement from playing slot machines, some it is the gaming tables, but for others it is the process behind the scenes that gets them going. Gregg Gale is one of those people. Gale is a casino auditor for the Nevada Gaming Control Board.

Gale’s job is to check the books for the large, glamorous casinos located in the state of Nevada. He got his accounting degree from Arizona State University and has been an auditor with the Gaming Control Board since 1979. He has audited all of the big casinos – Caesars Palace, the Stardust, etc.

The first time he audited the Stardust they were owned by an organized crime group and used the front company Argent Corp. as the “owners” of the casino. Years later he audited them again, but this time it was for the FBI and the IRS as part of a joint effort to investigate alleged skimming off the top. They ultimately had to surrender their license.

The type of work that Gregg does is exactly what he wants to do. He has always wanted a job that married his two loves – law enforcement and accounting. Gale has been their chief auditor for 20 years, and enjoys the daily challenges that come with the job. He had been considering law enforcement when the Gaming Control Board approached him regarding his current job – and it worked out terrific for him.
