Accessories

Few casino games come more self-contained than do slot machines. Unlike poker, there is no need for cards, ships, or a felt gaming table. Roulette and craps both also require tables and betting chips. For slots there also is no need for a money rake, dice, or felt gambling layouts. That does not mean there is no need for accessories.

In this case, accessories usually mean a nice table or stand to put the slot machine on. These come in tall and wide styles and some are designed for specific slot machines manufactured by a specific company.

Collectibles

Various state laws strictly regulate who can own a slot machine and, in most cases, private ownership is illegal unless the machine is a collectible or antique. What qualifies as a collectible or antique varies from state to state. Regardless, anyone who owns a collectible or antique slot machine is going to want to have a nice table upon which to display it. They are as widely available, especially on the internet, as the machines themselves.

Some of the slot machine tables being sold as collectibles and antiques themselves. They feature nicely polished wood with brass handles and stained glass doors on the front. The doors and space inside allows room for any other slot machine accessories that might be needed, perhaps tokens to use in the machine instead of money. There also are a number of people and companies that make new slot machine stands and tables suitable for displaying an antique machine. New and old stands run to the $200-$300 range if not higher, even on internet auction sites.

Functional

One might think that a casino operator would have an established distributor from whom to get gaming fixtures and supplies, but there also are slot machine tables available on line that are anything but “collectible.” These are heavy duty, made for commercial use. One company is marketing a stand for a row of slot machines, as many as four. That’s some serious collecting. The company is based in South Carolina, which has a long history with video poker and could account for its availability.

There also are lines of “slot machine” tables marketed for Pachislo machines. Pachislo, a type of Japanese slot machine, is very popular and the inside of the table has space for the tokens needed to play. Those, and other slot machine tables, also offer optional drink trays and electric receptacles and switches for controlling the machines.
